1) Odds & Ends

TBCS Membership
Our has risen to over 700 members for the first time in several years.  It's been a slow and painful process to turn this club around.  It was only a few short years ago that we were losing 35 to 50 members a month.  Congratulations to our president, Jim Boynton, and our Board of Directors!

Free Computer
One of our members donated a computer to another member last Tuesday night at the Largo Cultural Center.  The donator has found some more goodies that go with the computer.  Please email me (doc@synergypublishing.com) so that I can put you in touch with your benefactor.

FACUG (Florida Association of Computer User Group) Awards
On March 1st of this year FACUG awarded TBCS a 1st place in their "2003 Home Page Contest" with our website and a 2nd place in their "Community Spirit Award" contest for our Random Acts of Kindness Computer Clinics.  They just updated their website with a list of all the winners at:

2) TBCS Classes

Stan Ashbrook's Photoshop course is now scheduled for 4 consecutive Saturdays from 9 am 'til noon on August 2, 9, 16, & 23.  Each class is 3 hours in length for a total of 12 instructional hours.  Normally Stan charges $100 per person for this class, but he gives TBCS members a great bargain - it's only $60 for our members (and half of that goes to the club).

More classes are in the process of being scheduled soon.  Watch our website for new developments.  You can see our current classroom schedule and register online by surfing over to:

4) Educational Opportunities

Online Instruction Courses
CyberLearning is a project of the non-profit 501(c)(3) National Education Foundation founded in 1989 to provide effective and affordable training for everyone, especially the disadvantaged, in information technology, management and test-prep skills.

Their goal was to train 100,000 professionals in IT skills, and to train one million disadvantaged students and adults by 2010.  They have free courses and award grants to a variety of applicants.  This opportunity might be worth mentioning to others.  You can read more about them as well as sign up for some free sample courses:
