Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements

Meets the 1st Monday of the month at 7pm and encompasses Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere Elements.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 is used to organize photos and delivers image-editing tools to produce good looking pictures and sophisticated graphics for the web.

Adobe Premiere Elements 9 includes all the tools necessary to acquire footage from any video device and produce videos with different formats.

Digital Audio

Using your computer to create music and produce professional quality CD’s and MP3's. Meetings will be geared to the beginner level for the first hour and more advanced lessons in the second hour (after we get people up to speed in the first few months).

Digital Photography

Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7pm.
For beginning photographers who wish to learn more about their digital camera and how to take better pictures. Attendees are encourged to bring their own camera to the meeting along with any questions.

This SIG is all about having fun with photos, exploring software programs, sharing ideas, and showing results of one's creative work.

Digital Video

Meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 10am.
The group evaluates types and sources of digital files. The files may be imported into a video editor to produce a movie or archived. Methods of sharing the movie include copying the file to a DVD, publishing it to the web or saving it on the local computer.

Meets the 1st Saturday of the month at 3pm.
This SIG explores the many uses of the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program. It has many applications for users in both their work lives and personal lives ranging from a simple list keeper to a mathematically and organizationally complex spreadsheet. The topics range from basic to more advanced and are guided by the questions brought to the session by the attendees. The SIG is meant to introduce you to the software if you are a new user, and increase your skill if you are already familiar with it.

Expression Web

Microsoft Expression Web is a full-featured web design program which is part of the Expression Studio suite. This SIG covers all aspects of website design, including designing for Wordpress.

EZ-Stock Trading

If you are a serious investor, this is the place to hang out. Lots of strategies and resources: i.e. finding and using screeners, equity positions (buying, holding, selling, technicals, and alerts), options, and much, much more. Please bring your own stocks for sharing during Portfolio Selection.

Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)

The FOSS SIG encourages the use of Free and Open Source Software in place of expensive closed-source operating systems and applications. This includes Linux, the Foxfire browser and the OpenOffice suite plus much more. Now that we have started a separate Linux SIG, the FOSS SIG will now concentrate on Windows applications. Genealogy I & II

The Genealogy SIG's cover what to do in order to find your family’s vital records. Howard has over 40 years experience in the Genealogy field and teaches other basic Genealogy courses. If you have an interest in your family’s history, Howard invites you to "come and find those elusive horse thieves and other famous (or infamous) ancestors".

The Microsoft Office SIG welcomes novice, intermediate and expert users. Each month we will address your issues in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. This group meets each Tuesday at 1pm.
We welcome all of the folks just starting into the world of computing. We meet every Tuesday afternoon at the Resource Center. Our emphasis is on word processing, greeting cards, and Internet & e-mail basics. Our additional purpose is to help the novice become computer literate and suggest ways to keep out of trouble. All questions will be answered and treated with respect.

Photoshop

This group meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 7pm.
Our Photoshop class will range from beginners to the advanced Photoshop user. It is centered around the most recent version, CS5, but will cover features in previous versions. The class is primarily focused on the photography uses of Photoshop, but will entertain graphics questions. The class is two hours with a 10 minute break and will also cover Photoshop “plug ins” such as high dynamic range (HDR) and filters by different software houses. The class will cover both the PC and Mac versions.

Photoshop Elements Novice

Meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at 1pm.
This is a daytime beginners forum for the Photoshop Elements product from Adobe. The program has many of the capabilities of the full Photoshop program, and is ideal for those who want some advanced photo editing tools but do not need the professional level version. The session will be question-and-answer driven, but each meeting the leader will select a topic for the group to explore.

Power Point

Meets the 1st Saturday of the month at 1pm.
This SIG explores the many uses of PowerPoint, a software component of Micro Soft Office. It has uses in both personal and business settings that will be explored. You can use it to make a photo album complete with animation and sound, and then put it on a disk that can be used anywhere whether or not the software is loaded on that particular computer (great for gifts or just sharing family events). In your business life you can use the program to create presentations consisting of slides, graphics and animation that will make any meeting more effective and enjoyable (and impress the boss). It will also produce outlines and handouts that support the presentation. The SIG is meant to introduce you to the software if you are a new user, and increase your skill if you are already familiar with it.

Publishing Software

The Publishing Software SIG uses In-Design software by Adobe to demonstrate professional software publishing techniques.

Visual Basic and General Programming SIG

The VB SIG welcomes all members interested in programming in VB as well as other languages. All are invited to bring your coding triumphs and tribulations and share them with the group. Topics covered are often impromptu discussions that may apply to Visual Basic, PHP, MysQL, C#, SQL Server and other platforms. One thing is for certain though, you'll learn something new at every meeting of Tom Kiehl's popular SIG.

This SIG focuses on the more advanced topics of web site design, and is for those wishing to learn to design Web sites.

WordPress

Led by Sam Richardson
Meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7pm.
For all Wordpress users of all levels of expertise. Each meeting will be comprised of a lecture / teaching portion and a troubleshooting / discussion portion, and each meeting will include some basic and some advanced subjects. Meeting topics will include themes, plugins, security, contact forms, graphics, media, post and page tweaks, incorporating social media accounts, maintenance and anything else that comes along. The goal is to delve deeper into using Wordpress and find new ways of getting more out of Wordpress.

Audio and Video Studio

Jack Marscher, who is the coordinator of the studio, needs more mentors, especially for the audio conversion.

Resource Center

Volunteers needed to keep the Center open from 9am 'til 5pm throughout the week.

Your job is simply to answer the phone and to meet and greet people who come in to pay dues, ask about the Repair Clinic, etc. Shifts are 9am-1pm and 1-5pm on Monday thru Friday.
